Travel Information to Taiwan

Taiwan has three main international airports scattering in the north, middle, and south. These airports include Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA), Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), and Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH). Although Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, the site of 2018 SEALS Conference, is located in the southern city, Kaohsiung, and hence flying to KHH may be ideal, it is likely that Taoyuan and Taipei will be your destination in Taiwan, because TPE and TSA have more connections to flights from all over the world.

For those flying to Taipei, you will need to take Taiwan High Speed Railway (THSR) to get to Kaohsiung, going from northern Taiwan to south. This trip takes approximately 2 hours.

Below we map out in detail how you can get to Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages from all three international airports.

Arriving in Kaohsiung (KHH)

Once you arrive at KHH, you can get to Wenzao, where SEALS18 Conference is held, via taxi or MRT.

1. Airport to Wenzao via Taxi

Taxi services can be found right outside international terminal.

Charges are according to fare meter.

It takes taxi around 20-30 minutes to get to Wenzao.

Taxi Precautions:

If there is any dissatisfaction with airport taxi service, please take note of the taxi registered number found at the top of the car (e.g., 332) and report it to conference staff.

2. Airport to Wenzao via MRT

From KHH, you can also take MRT to Wenzao.

Take Kaohsiung MRT from Red Line R4 Kaohsiung International Airport Station to R14 Kaohsiung Arena Station. Then take taxi or shuttle bus to Wenzao. The taxi will take 5-10 minutes; or you can take shuttle bus No. Red36 to Wenzao.

The last MRT train departing from R4 Kaohsiung International Airport Station is 23:41pm.

3. THSR Zuoying Station to Wenzao

From THSR Zuoying Station, you can take taxi or MRT to Wenzao. The taxi will take 10 minutes. If you wish to take an MRT train, get on the train from MRT Zuoying Station R16 and head south toward R14 Kaohsiung Arena Station. Then take taxi to Wenzao.

Arriving in Taoyuan (TPE)

From Taoyuan International Airport, you can get to THSR via Metro Rapid Transit (MRT), taxi, or bus.

1. Airport to THSR via MRT

TPE and THSR Taoyuan Station is connected by MRT. There is an MRT station located inside each terminal of Taoyuan International Airport. On the MRT map, the terminal MRT stations are indicated by A12, A13, and A14. You get off at the A18 MRT Station, which is the stop for connection to THSR Taoyuan Station.

2. Airport to THSR via Taxi

Taxi services are located at the west side of the Terminal 1’s and Terminal 2’s Arrivals Lobby at TPE. All taxis and drivers must pass a strict evaluation process by the Aviation Police Office before being allowed to service airport travelers. The comprehensive management protocol ensures safety for all travelers.

Fare

Taxi fare is based on the meter. Total charge will be taxi fare plus any highway tolls. Taxis will transport passengers throughout Taiwan based on passenger needs. Fares are charged according to set standard rates. It gets to THSR Taoyuan Station from the Airport (15-minute ride).

3. Airport to THSR via Bus

Shuttle Bus to THSR

TPE has a complete THSR shuttle bus routes network connecting the airport, Novotel Hotel, and THSR Taoyuan Station, providing comfortable, convenient, low-cost and practical transportation option for travelers.

Shuttle information

Tickets must be purchased before getting onto the bus. They can be purchased at the following locations:

TPE: UBUS service counters at Arrivals Lobby of Terminal 1 and 2.

THSR Taoyuan Station: Platform 1 at bus depot.

Intervals: 5 - 10 minutes intervals during peak times.

Trip length: 25 minutes.

From THSR Taoyuan Station to Kaohsiung

Take High Speed Railway from Taoyuan Station to Zuoying Station (northern Taiwan to southern Taiwan). When you arrive at THSR Zuoying Station, you are in Kaohsiung. At this time, you will need to take Kaohsiung MRT or taxi to Wenzao. For details, see information for KHH section.

Arriving in Taipei (TSA)

From Songshan Airport, you can get to THSR Taipei Station via taxi or Taipei MRT.

1. Airport to THSR via Taxi

Taxi rank is located outside the Arrivals Lobby. Fares are charged according to distance travelled.

It takes around 15-20 min to get to THSR Taipei Station, which is located inside Taipei Main Station.

2. Airport to THSR via MRT

From TSA, you can also get to THSR Taipei Station by MRT. There is an entrance to Taipei MRT station located right outside TSA.

Taipei MRT Songshan Station to Taipei Main Station

Take the Brown Line MRT (heading to Taipei Zoo) to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, transfer to Blue Line (heading to Dingpu) and get off the train at Taipei Main Station, which houses TSHR Taipei Station.
